George Sherman was the principal of Black River Academy; this document features both Coolidge’s grades from Black River Academy and a warm letter from Sherman describing Coolidge’s academic achievement. Coolidge had graduated a year prior but was taking a year to recuperate from illness and prepare for entrance to Amherst at St. Johnsbury academy.
